GOOD WILL HUNTING

Directed by Gus Van Sant

Good Will Hunting has it's share of unneccessary degrading demeanor and is not perfect due to this, but this film is definatley one that hit home with me. Will (played my Matt Damon) is a janitor who cleans the halls of a college. He is a punk kid from a rough neighborhood who has a hidden talent. He's actually a mathematical genius. One day he answers a nearly impossible equation left for the students to solve. The math teacher bails him out of jail and he gets released under his supervision. One of the requirements is that he must see a phsychiatrist regularly but none of them will see him again after his first visit with them. The teacher therefore summons an old friend (played by Robin Williams) who happens to be from the same neighborhood to counsel young Will. The lessons learned by the bond that forms between these two are very important and very real. These are lessons that could help us all. I learned something from this film, and feel that I had built up a defensive wall around myself just as Will did in the movie. Because I could relate so strongly to this, this movie should be on my list.
