TITANIC
Directed by James Cameron
This movie is a grand romance on an epic scale. Let me get one thing straight, I cringe when I hear
the Lord's name used in vain and that's the one unneccessary aspect of this film. I cannot understand
the need for this. Maybe he was trying to give the film a harder edge without an R-rating but it still
really bothered me to hear it several times throughout the film. This film would have been near perfect
without this one major flaw. Anyhow, James Cameron who has always been my favorite director pulled off a
great feat with this one. The movie, like Braveheart, had it all. The romance, great special effects,
the tragedy, all with the historical event as the backdrop. Even though it was tragic, the feeling that
I left the theater was a good one. I am assuming that anyone who reads this has already seen the movie.
If not and you don't want to know what happens, then read no furthur. When I left the theater, the person
I saw it with looked at me and said "Well that was depressing". To me is was sad, but uplifting and I'll
tell you why. Jack may have lost his life, but he also gave Rose hers. He may have frozen to death, but to him,
the last moment he had was the happiest of his life. Like he said, he would have done it all again.
He just went to sleep beside her never to wake up to problems down the road. Rose learned from this love
and instead of wanting to end it, she lived it to it's fullest and it was Jack's memory, that powerful
love they shared, that was her life. Did I read more into this than the director meant? No way. This
story along with the tragic "real" story of the sinking made an awesome impact on myself and many other
moviegoers as well. This one deserves to be on the list, maybe even at the top.
