DISCUSSING FILMS THAT MATTER
When was the last time that you saw a film that you couldn't stop thinking
about. This film, or something about it just seemed to stay with you throughout
the next few days, but maybe a new idea or thought from that film changed you in
some way. It is true that most of what Hollywood puts out these days are hardly
worth us wasting our time on, but moviemakers have a powerful medium at their disposal.
This medium has the ability to reach the masses like no other. Just look at the money
spent every week at the box office. People love to go to the movies. I have always loved
the movies and used to envy film critics who got paid to watch and review them. Now I
feel more sympathy for them than anything. Just to think of all of the garbage they must sift
through, to find the good stuff. I have sat through many bad movies as I'm sure many of your have
and am now beginning to see just what a waste of time they are. It's a shame the industry has
become what it has, nothing more than a way to make money. Big money spent on great effects but
no point or substance. It is shameful. However, every now and then, something wonderful happens and a film-maker
gives a film his or her all. They have a mission and that is to portray a story, image, thought
or idea to it's fullest. They hope to use this power they have, to change lives. These are
the directors that deserve our praise. Films like these are the focus of this page.
Here I will discuss my picks and picks of yours as well. If you have one to discuss, if I haven't
seen it, I will and we will talk about it. Below are my picks of the most recent FILMS THAT MATTER.
